This is because the music is one of the last things to go in. I am glad you found your song, but I don't think that it was "left off" the soundtrack, because I don't remember that song being in the movie at all. Also, some artists generally allow their music to be used in a movie, but not on the soundtrack. The Rolling Stones are a good example of this. I am glad that you found the song you were looking for, but if it was only in the trailor (and I can't remember it being in the movie), then it doesn't really belong on the soundtrack.
